The Story
The Canadian Rockies have a way of clearing everything out of the way. Glacial rivers run so clean here they seem to argue with the rock beneath them.

Wild berries darken along frozen creek beds while resin and smoke settle low across stone, and ancient fir and hemlock hold steady against the wind. No single element is allowed to shout down the rest — conifer, resin, and fruit sit in careful negotiation, restrained and exact. Along a high alpine route, wild thyme and mountain wildflowers cling to the last soft ground before the rock face begins, and a fall through blue-walled ice left its own mark on the story. Agarwood and elderberry settle into shadowed hollows, joined by water lily from a hidden pool and tigerwood carried in from distant forests, while sacred greens, jade-toned woods, and a pale wash of ambergris rise as the light fades.

What remains is cold, clear, and unmistakably itself.

The Brand

Folkwinds was founded by Jono Bornstein to highlight North American made aromatic materials, designs, and artwork. Rather than working from an abstract idea of place, each fragrance is built as a scent-scape, a composition meant to capture the actual beauty of one specific North American landscape, translated through materials that are primarily natural and American-sourced rather than described from a distance.

That same care extends to the presentation. Caps are machined from solid metal, and patches are cut from leather veg-tanned in the USA, each piece designed to outlast the perfume inside and be carried on afterward, repurposed rather than discarded. The formulas themselves run over 90% natural, built on rare materials such as white ambergris, deer musk, floral absolutes, and sandalwood.
