Fine Scents is an independent British house that works in cultivated restraint and subtle elegance, and calls the result Intelligent Luxury. Four releases so far, and every one of them is credited by name on the page it belongs to. The bottles come from Jules Dinand, grandson of Pierre Dinand, in silky glass with bakelite caps.

The house began with three releases and has added one since, and all four come in a single size. Each is built on a handful of materials rather than a long list, and each carries a subject of its own instead of a mood: an arrival after dark, a slow morning in the sun. Candles, hand creams and bookmarks sit alongside them, made to the same measure, and so does a large book of photographs and poems.
