The Story
It’s late on a Friday, the city finally exhaling.

You slip off your shoes and step onto the woven tatami, its clean earthiness rising gently in the room’s hush. Blue chamomile drifts through the air, cool and steady like a breath against your skin. The world outside is still humming with leftover laughter, but here, the night folds in close—warm wood, faint hay, and a soft grain of cereal lingering in the air. You lie back, feeling the calm vibrate through cedar and sandalwood, the faint resin of cypress connecting East and West in quiet harmony. It holds that in-between hour—half wake, half memory—where simplicity turns intimate and the night feels endless.

Notes: Tatami Accord, Blue Chamomile, Cereal Accord, Hay, Fir Balsam, Cypress, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Orcanox

The Brand

Setchu takes its name from the Japanese phrase “Wayo Setchu” (和洋折衷), a meeting point between Japanese and Western worlds. Founded by designer Satoshi Kuwata, who studied at Central Saint Martins and refined his craft on Savile Row and in global fashion capitals, the brand channels this sense of balance into scent as well as clothing. Each fragrance begins with classic forms and familiar notes, then gently twists them, fusing Japanese restraint and Western richness into compositions that feel quietly new yet instantly wearable. Based in Milan, Setchu perfumes are crafted as everyday essentials—subtle, functional, and made to move fluidly between genders, moods, and occasions.
