The Story
Pressed into a carved mould, and the pattern survives the oven.

The dough is fine semolina and melted butter, worked with orange blossom or rose water, and it crumbles the right way, then filled with date paste, crushed pistachio or spiced walnut. A ball of it goes into a tâbe, a wooden mould cut with geometric and floral patterns, and bakes gold with the carving still on it. Kitchens across Lebanon fill on the eve of Eid and the big family days, generations at the table kneading the dough and weighing out the dates.

Guaiac wood runs dry underneath, vetiver green and rooty beside it, amyris warm and faintly resinous. White musk and a little caramel sit under all that. Dates and pistachio bring the fruit and the fat. Walnut, black sesame and nutmeg go spiced, and piri piri puts a real heat in that the sweetness never quite covers.

The Brand

Ideo Parfumeurs was established in Lebanon in 2016 to make fragrances that were elegant and reachable at once, built out of memory and given a daring turn. It found its audience quickly, with wide press and a presence in some of Europe's most prestigious stores. Then the explosion at the Beirut port stopped the house, and its activity stayed frozen for about three years.

It opened again in 2025 under new owners in France, with a new visual identity, new noses and an emphasis on its Lebanese heritage. The Delicacies came out of that, drawn from what Lebanon eats and pours, composed by French noses and made in France. What drew the house to Beirut was the melting pot and the contradictions in it. Ancient craft traditions run through a modern, tech-friendly city, and strict social rules hold alongside a sense of exhilarating freedom.
