The Story
When you want to smell like you belong to a secret society.

La Bague d’O is a scent inspired by Pauline Réage’s notorious novel, "Story of O". The narrative begins as a fairy tale, with O being taken to a chateau by her lover and embarking on a journey of sexual submission.

The novel, originally written as letters to her lover, was released under a pseudonym and has since become a controversial classic. Its reserved author was later revealed to be Anne Desclos, who wrote under the pen names Pauline Réage and Dominique Aury. The 1975 film adaptation added a dreamy element to the story, while also showcasing the unwavering determination of its protagonist.

“The chains and the silence which ought to have sealed her isolated self within twenty impenetrable walls, to have asphyxiated her, strangled her, hadn’t; to the contrary, they’d been her deliverance, liberating her from herself.”
- PAULINE REAGE Story of O (1954)

The Brand

Jouissance Parfums is a London fragrance house founded by Cherry Cheng, whose academic formation spans Sotheby's Institute of Art and Goldsmiths, University of London. The brand was born from the books that get read beneath the sheets — transgressive works of female authorship that still unsettle and captivate. Its name comes from a concept explored by French feminist writer Hélène Cixous: a sensual, mystical abundance understood as the source of female creative power, linked to women's capacity for pleasure that transgresses the limits set for it.

Jouissance fragrances are made to provoke. Trained in classical traditions but driven to disrupt, each composition moves between the shocking and the sublime — animalic undertones, aldehyde accents, accords that surface buried memory. Beyond the bottle, the brand cultivates a living cultural community: sourcing out-of-print books, hosting salons, banquets, and film screenings, and supporting the next generation of female creatives through commissions and collaborations. Écriture féminine — the specificity of women's language and expression — is the animating principle behind everything Jouissance makes.
