The Story
Inspired by William Basinski's seminal tape-loop album, this is the feeling of a melody disintegrating in real time, played back through dust and afternoon light.

Chrysanthemum drifts in first, green and a little herbal, lifted by elemi and juniper like sun pushing through an overcast sky. Then the clarity blurs. Orris butter turns powdery and velvety, tactile but ghostly. Rum brings a shadowed, boozy warmth. Rose appears in pieces, petals letting go one at a time. Underneath, leather sits heavy and worn, tobacco curls into smoke, and labdanum and frankincense pool into something resinous and warm. A thread of saffron flickers through it all, faint as a last beat of color.

A piece for introspection: late evenings indoors, long winter walks, hours spent listening to a record from start to finish. It lingers on skin like a tape running out, hushed and unforgettable, an essay on what stays after everything else fades.

Notes: Chrysanthemum, Elemi, Juniper, Orris Butter, Rum, Rose, Leather, Tobacco, Labdanum, Frankincense, Saffron

The Brand

Phronema Perfumes is a fragrance project conceived in 2020 as a series of olfactory works that honor the ancient roots of scent imagination. Each composition is approached with deliberate abandon, allowing the perfume to shape its own architecture, even at the perfumer’s expense.

Rather than chasing trends or effortless wearability, Phronema works slowly and materially, guided by the intrinsic character of its raw materials. The resulting fragrances are meant to be objects of contemplation as much as adornment—scents that insist on presence: grounded, human, and quietly demanding.
