The Story
A wedding nobody asked the bride about.

A young bride stands beside the very old man the family has chosen, eyes down, lost somewhere in a fate nobody has explained. Flowers are woven through the hair. A faint glow softens the outline as though the heavens themselves were mourning that solitude. Frozen there, untouched by the world's harsh breath, and under the lace of the wedding gown a melancholy with no name for it, folded into tradition and duty.

Lilac and peony arrive pale and soft, coumarin under them with a faint hay sweetness. Violet leaf and heliotrope build the powder. Iris runs a cool line through the middle of that. A subtle smoky resin sits behind the flowers, so nothing ever quite settles. White musk and powdery vanilla take it out. The liquid is dyed violet with a cosmetic colour, and it may shift toward blue in direct sun.

The Brand

Dark Tales began as a home hobby in Moscow in July 2019 and now works out of a studio and laboratory on Kungsgatan in Uppsala, Sweden. Arina P. Franzén founded it and composes everything in it, having come to fragrance out of history, psychology and biographical writing. Some things are too atmospheric to describe in words. Some memories do not speak, they smell, and that is the whole argument for the house.

Every release is built as a place rather than as a pleasant thing to wear. If one is named for an old library it has to smell like an old library, down to the dust and the slowed time. The work is handmade in small batches, roughly eighty percent natural, and it runs from luminous florals through smoky woods and resinous dark to industrial gourmand. None of it was made to disappear politely into a room.
