The Story
Tears never harden into amber. They dry cold on the cheek and mark the place.
Leaving happens fast, and it goes from the softest place first — warmth drawn out a little at a time until there is none left. Losing has never been so easy. One grain of salt falls, and the taste stays for years: a sting that starts in the throat and spreads to both sides of it.
There is nothing frightening in that. People stay soft, and they stay warm. Whatever looked like an impassable wall, whatever mistake felt permanent — both wear down in the end. It is all right.
