Bermuda Waters

Gin and Incense, Golden Saffron.

Bermuda Waters takes its name from the Atlantic's most mysterious archipelago, where open water meets the spice-laden winds of old trade routes. Perfumer Shadi Samra opens it with an unlikely pairing of gin and incense, contemporary against spiritual. Pear adds a juicy, crystalline sweetness; saffron brings golden warmth underneath.

It reads genderless by design — built to move past conventional gendered perfumery while staying sharp and composed.

Joelle Sakkal founded IDMAN and signs its letter in the first person, dedicating the line to people longing for attention and visibility. The house is run out of Dubai. The range is four extraits alongside two all-over sprays and a balm, highly concentrated, with extracts drawn from Grasse. A fine line between creation and chaos runs under the work. Making a thing sits on one side of it and the turbulence of living sits on the other.

Each of the four extraits is given a scene and a list of two or three materials. The releases are designed to be layered over one another rather than kept apart. An emotional hurricane is the register the house works in, and the extraits are concentrated enough that one or two sprays is the instruction for them.
