SYD Botanica is rooted in a studio practice that treats olfactory work like mixed-media art, drawing on music, memory, and visual culture as starting points for each formula.

Playful yet thoughtful, a little offbeat, and shaped by careful balancing of sweetness, smoke, and soft woods rather than loud, conventional accords. 

SYD Botanica is an independent fragrance house based in Los Angeles, California, devoted to exploring how scent can shift mood, memory, and perception.

Founded by perfumer and artist Syd Buffman, the project began as handmade incense in 2015 and evolved into a niche perfume line that officially launched in 2022. Each fragrance is conceived as a sensory art piece, drawing on Buffman’s background in visual art and scent installation to create compositions that feel immersive and cinematic on skin.

SYD’s perfumes often emerge from creative collaborations, such as Romantix, a perfume created with dream-pop musician Winter to accompany the album “Adult Romantix,” underscoring the brand’s focus on fragrance as a bridge between music, emotion, and memory.
