The Story
It enters a room first and waits for everyone to notice.

What begins as a soft, almost familiar haze — cool chamomile and lavender drifting through the air — turns sharp the moment Nepal pepper cuts in, electric and sudden. The rose that follows is nothing like the tame one most expect. It runs hot and metallic, closer to skin than to garden, and it refuses to ask for room. Iris draws a cool veil across the surface while olibanum threads smoke through the tension, softening nothing, only deepening it. Then the whole thing sinks into shadow. Oud smolders low, oakmoss pulls everything down into damp earth and tangled roots, and a warm, diffusive heat spreads until the rose gains real weight. It settles in and stays. This is the rose of Grasse roughened, grounded, and handed control — surrender worn as power.

Notes: Nepal Pepper, Blue Chamomile, Lavande de Provence, Rose Absolute, Iris, Olibanum Incense, Oud, Oakmoss, Ambramone

The Brand

GAMINE was founded by Melanie Dir, a Cannes-born perfumer whose formation began before school age — at six, she started formal training under her father, master nose Claude Dir, who spent five decades building the American arm of MANE, the family-owned French fragrance house.

She grew up inside the laboratory, surrounded by resins, musks, and raw formula work, absorbing the discipline of olfactive composition through proximity and practice. Nearly three decades spent shaping other people's visions — collaborating with Laura Mercier, Virgil Abloh, and Isamaya Ffrench — eventually gave way to a house entirely her own. Claude Dir came out of retirement to serve as nose on the debut collection, a passing of the baton that runs beneath every bottle.Operating across Brooklyn, Grasse, and Milan, GAMINE is built around three codes — global, grit, and luxury — and structured as a unified system where scent, form, and function are inseparable.

The debut lineup offers three compositions in two formats: Bricks, weighted Eau de Parfum in frosted glass encased in custom eco-rubber. The signature material is custom-engineered eco-rubber — grounded, durable, deliberately unglamorous — chosen precisely because it sits outside traditional luxury codes. Dir's compositions follow the same logic: high naturals, high tension, built with conflicting materials to demand presence rather than offer comfort.
