The Story
Built around some of the rarest material in modern perfumery — Nepali fossilized amber absolute, Chinese oud, and three types of sacred boswellia resin — this reads as deep, resinous, and quietly ancient.

Italian bergamot lifts the first minutes with a clean flicker of light, while mastic and vintage pine bring a green, almost medicinal edge. Then the frankincense resins settle in, warm and sweet, tipping the whole thing into lit-censer territory. Underneath, something stranger is happening: shiitake and porcini mushroom absolutes open a damp, earthen, faintly umami shadow, the smell of forest floor after rain, grounding the sweetness with something primal. Balsam peru and tolu close it out slow and sticky, nearly edible. It suits long winter evenings, late rituals, rooms lit by candle rather than lamp — any moment that feels sacred without being solemn.

The House

Frederic Gieselbach came to niche fragrances as a collector and now makes them by hand in Germany as Nebiru Parfvms, filling and closing every bottle. Gieselbach's father loved drugstore fragrances and followed the son deeper in, and without words the two shared something essential. Then came the sudden loss of the father. Gieselbach asked how to get closer, and the answer became the house's name: Nebiru, in Babylonian mythology the threshold between worlds, the point of connection.

Nebiru releases are built from raw materials Gieselbach finds. The eaglewood comes from South East Asia; essences come from jungle islands, other materials from the Arab and Asian regions. Gieselbach buys roots, resins and woods, never ready-made blends. The releases have edges and depth, and none of them is smooth. Each small batch is mixed by hand and filtered, then brought to maturity.
