The Story
This is the one that stays close to the skin.
Herbs come crushed rather than cut: sweet basil and perilla leaf, green and faintly medicinal, with blood orange keeping them from souring. Then it warms.
Osmanthus and sophora flower go apricot-soft, pink muhly dries the air around them, and white pine resin holds the seam where green meets sweet. Underneath, everything turns animal: oak, musk, ambergris, civet. Tobacco has been in the room for years and it shows.
