The Story
The name of an asymmetrical knot, and of a Kurdish city.
The knot is typical of the rugs woven in Iranian Kurdistan. The city is Sanandaj, which once carried the name.
"Human beings are members of a single body. If one part suffers, the others cannot remain at peace." The line is the Persian poet Saadi's. Long before many modern states rose, Persia already had cities, libraries, schools of thought, astronomers, physicians and philosophers.
Persian and Iranian rose sit under saffron and Persian mint. Benzoin from Sumatra and from Siam lies lower down. Every material in it is natural, living matter in constant transformation that no formula fully controls.
