Charred Oud

Somewhere a coal catches, and a curl of oud smoke begins to climb.

The first breath is bright and resinous, green cardamom snapping against frankincense, with saffron and bergamot warming the edges. Then the smoke thickens. Thai agarwood settles in, wrapped in rose and the apricot softness of osmanthus, a warmth that feels both foreign and secretive. As the embers burn lower, the wood turns dark and grounded, deepened by patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, and a thread of tobacco. Ambergris and musk drift behind like the last heat rising off a fading coal, the memory of charred wood long after the flame is gone.
